Workshop: Legally Speaking

There are dozens of different laws that govern children’s lives, and affect how adults can support them. Gain a layman’s understanding of the laws affecting children and how to work within the legal framework.

  • Recognise when a child may be being abused.
  • Do I have to report child abuse?
  • Can I share information about a child?
  • Do I have to go to court?
  • How old does a child have to be to?
  • Is there a law to protect me?

  • Privacy Act
  • Guardianship Act
  • Care of Children Act
  • Children Young Persons and Family Act
  • Domestic Violence Act and Protection Orders
  • The implication of these laws for adults who work with or care for children
  • Legal rights and responsibilities
  • Other para-legal matters concerning children and those who are responsible for them
  • How laws are made and changed and how you can influence this process

Cancellation and Refund Policies
CPS reserves the right to cancel any workshops due to minimum registrations.  Refunds will be given to participants of workshops cancelled by CPS. 
Registrations cancelled by participants after registration will incur an administration fee of $50.00.  No refunds will be applicable on or after workshop start date
