Enrolment Information
Proof of eligibility to be a student in New Zealand. Any student who has New Zealand citizenship or residency is eligible to enrol in CPS' Programmes. Proof of citizenship or New Zealand Residency may be required and enrolment may not be able to proceed without verified proof being provided.
CPS recognises prior learning for the Diploma in Child Protection Studies, but not for the five day Child Protection Studies Programme due to the range of assessment requirements used in the Programme.
All students attending Programmes (except workshops) are expected to come prepared with a basic understanding of Treaty issues. We highly recommend you attend a Treaty Workshop prior to attending a CPS programme if you have not already done so.
Programmes DO NOT provide a therapeutic programme and should not be undertaken by those with any unresolved issues regarding children or child abuse.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Any student who has been abused or has experienced personal trauma should not attend any child protection Programmes unless he or she has come to terms with the abuse or trauma and is in a position to discuss child abuse in an objective way. CPS reserves the right at any stage (prior to or after Programme commencement) to refuse entry to or attendance at any Programme.
. All cancellations must be received in writing. A deposit is required with your enrolment form, with the balance of fees due at least 14 days prior to Programme start date. Any alternative payment schedule requires the approval of the Operations Manager.
5 day Child Protection Studies Programme: Cancellation within 14 days of Programme commencement will incur a $325.00 cancellation fee. No refund will be applicable, after Programme commencement.
Diploma in Child Protection Studies: Cancellation, within 14 days of Programme commencement will incur an administration charge of $500 or 10% of fees paid. After the first eight days of Programme commencement, no refunds is considered. The following withdrawal and refund policy applies to your deposit as per the Education Amendment Act (no.4) 1991, which states that CPS must: “Allow every student enrolled for a Programme of study or training to withdraw from it at any time within seven days after the first day of the Programme for which attendance of students at the establishment is required and refund to every student who so withdraws, without deduction, so much of any payment, or the sum of any payments, made by the student to the establishement in respect of that Programme, and if withdrawal from that Programme also constitutes withdrawal from the establishment as a whole, in respect of enrolment at the establishment, as exceeds $500 or 10% of the amount of that payment or the sum of those payments, whichever is the lesser.”
Workshops: Full payment is due 14 days prior to workshop commencement. A cancellation fee of $50.00, will be applicable if cancelled within 14 days of commencement. No refund will be applicable after workshop commencement.
An administration fee of $25.00 may be charged, if transferring to another Programme.
CPS reserves the right to change Programme details, start dates or fees, without prior notice. CPS reserves the right to decline any student enrolment.
Through the support of a number of generous funders, CPS is able to offer a limited number of sponorships to individuals to help cover a portion of the Programme fees. For full details regarding Sponsorships – click here The Child Protection Studies Programme and Diploma in Child Protection Studies Programmes are fully accredited and approved by NZQA. The Child Protection Studies Programme includes NZQA units 17454 and 17455. The Diploma in Child Protection Studies includes NZQA unit 17456.
