Training Programmes
Participants of the CPS’s training programmes report that after attending the programmes they have acted in new and positive ways to protect children because: - They have developed new confidence in dealing with children at risk
- They have the skills and knowledge to take action
- They have established better and more effective local networks
- They have made personal contact with key child protection agencies
- They understand their role in keeping children safe in terms of the law
- They have reaffirmed their commitment to children’s safety
- They know how to access the crucial support to debrief after personal involvement in child protection issues.
They tell us that workshops and programmes have been a key factor in causing them and their agencies to become “more productive and responsive to children at risk”. All classes (except workshops) are limited to a maximum of 22 participants to provide opportunities for optimum learning and personal attention and interaction. Classroom activities are varied, with the emphasis placed on meeting the learning needs of participants through the inclusion of a wide variety of teaching and learning methods.
Participants are encouraged to develop strong networks, which will assist them in the future in protecting children. Participants have the opportunity to listen to a range of interesting Specialist Speakers who share their knowledge and expertise with the class.
CPS acknowledges the skills and knowledge that participants bring and encourages them to share their resources and own particular expertise with the class.
All programmes are undertaken in a comfortable, approachable environment that is conducive to adult learning. Our programmes are offered nationally and therefore venues are carefully selected to ensure the safety and wellbeing of learners.
